01 Jun Program that provides young people with summer jobs kicks off Wednesday
A program that provides young people with summer jobs kicks off Wednesday.
STL Youth Jobs helps young people, ages 16 to 24, keep busy and stay away from trouble by having them work for companies like Emerson and Wells Fargo.
“Just to be alive and not be affiliated with the gangs and the shooting makes me feel awesome,” said Kevin Dupree, a participant of the program.
Through the jobs, the participants learn much needed skills to help further their future careers. Mentors also teach them about how to make and manage money.
The program has already provided about 1,400 young people with paid work experience.
The program is made possible by donations from community organizations. Last month, Civic Progress donated $100,000 to the organization.
